Fair Trade: Peace & Justice Group

At St Mary’s we care passionately about Fair Trade. In 2007, we formed an action group and became the first primary school and became the first primary school in Cornwall to win the Fair Trade Award. We believe that farmers, producers & workers should get a farm price for their products and are determined to take this message into our community. We hold regular sales of Fair Trade goods at school, at church and at our local council offices. We also campaign about peace and justice issues and have recently lobbied our Prime Minister about the refugee crisis and the rights of all children to an education.

 January 2017

Our Fairtrade Peace and Justice Group raised a fantastic £275.31 for Mary's Meals. This is enough money to feed 22 children for an entire school year. We would like to thank our Parish for supporting this wonderful charity.

October 2016

After achieving reacreditation of our Fairtrade status our new Fairtrade group is ready to continue the great work of last year. We already have our first Fairtrade sale in the diary. We are also seeking to SERVE the community and our global family living in poverty by working closely with Bodmin Town Council on our aim of securing Fairtrade status for Bodmin.

On Thursday the 28th of April 2016 some of the Fairtrade Peace and Justice Action Group did a presentation to Bodmin Town Council.  The Fairtrade group were encouraging them to work with and support us in working towards our goal of Bodmin becoming a Fairtrade town.
